Transferring to Hanscom Composite Squadron

Whether due to a recent move, schedule change, or desire to find a better fit, many CAP members look to transfer their membership. Hanscom Composite Squadron is always open to transfers of current members, both cadets and seniors.

If you are a current CAP member in good standing* who wishes to transfer to our squadron, please complete the following steps:

  1. Let your current commander know that you are considering or planning to transfer to a different unit. Any transfer requires the permission of both the losing and gaining unit commanders, and our squadron commander will communicate with your current commander before initiating a transfer. You are also responsible for returning any issued equipment (keys, radios, etc.) prior to being released from your current unit.

  2. Click Contact Us and fill out the form. We will get back to you with information about how to attend some meetings so that we can ensure that our unit is a good fit for you and that you are a good fit for us. As we meet on a military installation, you will require someone to sponsor you with a visitor pass, so we will need to plan for your attendance in advance.

  3. Cadets only: Per CAPR 60-1 Section 8.1.3, you are required to have the permission of your parent(s), current squadron commander, and our squadron commander prior to attending any of our meetings or activities.

  4. If you still wish to transfer to Hanscom Composite Squadron after having attended meetings, a transfer can be processed electronically in eServices. Once a transfer is approved, you should arrange to have your membership file/records mailed to our squadron (CAPR 39-2, 1.11.4.2).

*From CAPR 39-2, 1.11 Transfer of Membership: “Members may transfer from one unit to another as long as they are members in good standing in their current unit of assignment. Members may not transfer to preclude an adverse action or when placed in a suspended status.”
